Supervision is an ongoing relationship where you get to discuss many different topics, including
What comes up for you in your client sessions. This is deep work we do and it’s vital we take care of ourselves so that we can be in the best space to offer quality care to those who seek our guidance.
Review of literature on different topics or conditions that may have come up in client sessions OR perhaps have not come up in sessions but you just want to dive deeper into a topic.
Different treatment frameworks and how to best apply to each individual client
Clinical case consultation – this is where we discuss specific cases you are working with and get granular on best practice approaches.
The ups and downs of running a private practice. I love to help those I work with to see all the different talents they bring to this work and to use those gifts to bring optimal care to those they work with.
Addressing burnout. Remember how I said we need to take care of ourselves in this work? I bring meditation, therapeutic writing, joyful movement, DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) tools and techniques, self-compassion practices, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) practices, Body Trust ® concepts, and more to help you give yourself the care you need to do this work.
Business practices that suit your individual professional needs. This may include boundaries with time and availability, where and when you work, and when you need time away from work.
Counseling skills.
We will collaborate on what you would like to address. I have an optional worksheet you can fill out prior to session to help gather your thoughts, if you’d like. Or you can simply come to session and we will work with what’s there for you that day. We will regularly check in and make sure the sessions are meeting your needs and goals and to reassess these.
We will collaborate on this. Usually, sessions are anywhere from once a week to once a month.
Consultation sessions differ from supervision in that they are specific to a single case or treatment consultation. These are often short-term or even one-off sessions. Consultation is also often a part of on-going supervision.
